INDONESIA FESTIVAL (INDOFEST) | 22-25 MAY 2026

Numerous indigenous festivals, based on cultural traditions, take place throughout the archipelago. In the Netherlands, the largest cultural gathering is the so-called Pasar Malam (literally "the evening market"). After the first nationwide Pasar Malam was organized in 1950 at the Houtrusthallen in The Hague, this event can now be found in almost every city and village in the Netherlands. Although the foundation of the Pasar Malam is based on tradition, the contemporary Pasar Malam is increasingly becoming a festival.
In 2026, INDOFEST will be launched, forging a blend of "old and new". You'll find traditional batik menshirts and female dresses, as well as modern garments made by the most innovative couturiers. The extensive and globally recognized Indonesian cuisine is, of course, still present, with snacks like fried banana and cendol (a deliciously refreshing coconut drink), but the latest food trends will also be revealed. Experience delicious streetfood as you are in Indonesia. Imagine yourself strolling in an Indonesian market with the nicest and unique trinkets.
On stage, not only familiar, old fashioned songs but certainly also the latest hits will be performed. Be surprised by the high quality of today's jazz and pop musicians.

If you register with the organization as a participant or buyer/visitor of the Pasar Besar,
you can visit all areas of the Pasar Besar free of charge.
