Three Pillars of One Vision
The Pasar Besar 2026 event, is a testament to our vision of a multifaceted marketplace. The three gunungan in our logo mirror the expo’s three categories, and together, these pillars create a holistic experience that bridges commerce, culture, and exploration, uniting diverse audiences under one grand market.
A Gateway to Indonesian Excellence
Pasar Besar, meaning "Grand Market" in Indonesian, is an enterprise born in the heart with a bold vision: to bring the richness of Indonesian entrepreneurship to European markets through the Netherlands. Founded by Robert Tawaris and Ray Zijlstra, Pasar Besar is a bridge between continents, uniting Indonesian businesses with European opportunities while celebrating the cultural heritage that defines Indonesia. Our mission is to create a vibrant platform where Indonesian entrepreneurs can thrive, cultural connections can flourish, and tourism can inspire, all through the historic gateway of the Netherlands.
Rooted in History, reaching for the Future
Pasar Besar’s story is deeply intertwined with the centuries-old relationship between Indonesia and the Netherlands; partnership forged through trade, cultural exchange, and a shared history. With over almost 2 million people of Indonesian descent in the Netherlands, this connection is a living legacy. Pasar Besar honors this bond by creating a space where the Indonesian diaspora, European businesses, and tourists can come together. Inspired by the nostalgic charm of “Tempo Doeloe” (times past), we look to the future, empowering Indonesian entrepreneurs to seize global opportunities while preserving the traditions that make Indonesia unique.
Our logo; A Symbol of Unity in Diversity
The Pasar Besar logo is a visual embodiment of our mission and values. At its core are three gunungan, a traditional Javanese motif from wayang kulit (shadow puppetry), symbolizing the cosmic mountain that marks the beginning and end of a story. In our logo, the three gunungan, crafted in a deep, unifying blue, represent the three pillars of the Pasar Besar 2026 trade expo: B2B (business-to-business), B2C (business-to-consumer), and tourism. Each gunungan is intricately designed with swirling patterns, reflecting the richness and diversity of Indonesian culture; from batik artistry to culinary traditions. The blue hue signifies trust, professionalism, and the ocean that connects Indonesia and the Netherlands, while the orange swoosh beneath the gunungan adds a dynamic touch, symbolizing energy, growth, and the vibrant spirit of Indonesian markets. Set against a plain white background, the logo’s clarity reflects our commitment to transparency and accessibility for all.
